I'm pretty sure you won't be "finding yourself" by going to places like tallahasse, cincinatti and detroit(lol).

I would strongly suggest going to less familiar places if your goal really is to obtain a new outlook on life.

[/ QUOTE ]

Those weren't random choices, I picked places where I know people so I will have a place to stay for free. As well, the places aren't that familiar to me.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, I understood that from your OP. What I am saying as those are terrible cities to pick for this kind of trip, free room or not.

Finish school. Really.

[/ QUOTE ]

I am not quitting school, just taking the fall off. I know I run the risk of the "i'm out now and don't ever want to go back" syndrome, but really, I can't even stand the thought of doing those classes right now.

bt,

Unfortunately, I will not be able to return to my current job, so If I were to stay in the field, it would have to be somewhere else.

I honestly have no idea what my mindset will be at the end. My goals really are to see some new places and maybe see if there is somewhere else id rather live, catch up with old friends/family, live responsibility free for a little while, try to write some since it's something I enjoy, and basically just have some time to think.

Whether this will give me some new realizations or just prove to be an extended vacation, well, I guess we'll see

Turkish,

Your mindset is fairly typical of people in their early 20s. Most either delay getting "real" jobs for as long as possible, doing stuff like Peace Corps or traveling a lot or whatever, or they get a job and wish they were doing anything but work right now.

If I were in your shoes, I'd finish school (I'm assuming it's just two semesters left). I'd continue working for the money, but if the job was sucking too much I'd ask for less hours or find something less demanding. That way when you're done with your little soul search, you aren't already strapped into something which you probably won't find desirable.

Kid,

I think I understand what you are saying, but if I continue as normal with school and keep working, at what point in time will I actually be making progress in figuring out what I want to do?

Thanks Groove, i'll check that out, though whereas money wouldn't be an issue with the current plan, I think it might be of some concern with the overseas one.

[/ QUOTE ]

I would def. go oversea's.

As long as you don't go to Europe, oversea's CAN be way cheaper.

Well I have considered doing something like this, but I would go to Western Europe instead.

If I had to stick to the USA though, I would hit (not in order):

NYC
Boston
Chicago
Charleston, SC
Coastal Maine
Miami (and down the keys)
New Orleans
Memphis
Yellowstone
Seattle
San Fran
San Diego
Sedona, AZ (Red Rock)
Yosemite (CA)
