ftp DEFINITELY has some props

I can see this actually: Half of their pros are effectively props (i.e, getting > 100% rakeback)

I suppose you could call some of FTP's pros "props", but not in the traditional sense. They're not being used to start/keep games going, but rather as a marketing tool to get/keep people playing since people like to play against a "pro". Even if it is Lynette Chan.

But true props? No way. Do you know what props do? They start games when there aren't enough players, and they help to keep games going when they are getting shorthanded. Ever notice where you get propping offers from - usually sites you've never heard of that can't manage to keep 2 tables of 1/2NL running. FTP and PS are running hundreds of tables 24 hours a day. They don't need props.

I think ML is spot on with his analysis.

Why would they need to pay people to play there? They're the biggest sites in the US. I'd be willing to bet that neither do, but anything's possible I guess.

1.more tables even better for them?...ofcourse
2.many people on waiting lists?...yes
3.?????
4.profit

At the site where I worked as a prop, once a table filled up I was required to leave the table so someone else could sit down. So waiting lists have nothing to do with props, as it makes no sense to pay someone to keep a normal customer from sitting down.

Not all sites have that requirement though.
There are some places where a prop does not have to leave if the table fills up. He's allowed to keep on playing.
Mostly as his reward for starting the table and also as an incentive to keep him coming back.

As you probably discovered on your site, it can get pretty frustrating to have to constantly be getting up from the table and sooner or later some of the props will decide that it just isn't worth the hassle.
So paying the props to sit there even when the table is full does actually have a purpose in that it keeps the props happy and gives them incentive to keep propping.
