Re: Folding KK pre-flop???
[ QUOTE ]
i read in the little green book that Phil Gordon once laid down his Cowboys when Phil Helmuth came over the top. Helmuth said something like * what you had Gordon, Ace Queen? * and Phil Gordon replied * no Phil, only Kings...* Phil Gordon then managed to finish 5th or something, ahead of Helmuth. Read more books and stop getting stacked like a noob. [/ QUOTE ] Phil Gordon is a top notch pro, possibly the best in the world tho. |

Re: Folding KK pre-flop???
There are times laying it down can be the correct play but they are quite rare. It can happen in cash games but you'd probably need relatively deep stacks and some knowledge of the way your opponent plays to make it correct. It could also be the correct play in a tournament where prize structure implications make it correct. However, based on your post, there is not enough information to give an accurate assessment of whether it was correct in this particular situation.
I've laid it down three times in my life pre-flop. Two were in cash games and both times they showed AA. The other was in a tournament where it was the best starting hand but the prize structure and my stack size made it the correct move. |

Re: Folding KK pre-flop???
That's a really tough question, I mean, some people I play with think it's even impossible to laydown J4o pre-flop because they got a face card so I don't think there is a good answer for this one. You might want to try and take it to the strategy forums...
