The homemade I've had has been bland and unspiced. Really didn't taste too good at all. Some of it was too soft, too.

The stuff I've gotten in stores varies, but I like that it's usually tangy and well-spiced. But the list of ingredients can be kind of frightening.

Sodium isn't bad for most people?

according to the link below, a person our age is supposed to consume no more than 1500mg of sodium daily. a slice of beef jerky has ... ~500mg already?

Increased Na consumption leads to high blood pressure. Not to mention that beef jerky is usually highly processed which is often bad for you. I guess you can increase your potassium consumption though according to the article

Something that I noticed while in Europe that maybes matters or doesn't. Their RDA is like 5k mg of sodium. As opposed to 2k here. Why?

I mean sodium isn't great and its why I don't eat beef jerky but its better than most snacks.

Who gives a [censored] about sodium. That is one thing that is way down on the list of "stuff you shouldn't eat."

No one is advocating that you should eat 10 pounds of salt per week, but that's hardly the problem with most people's diets.

kyleb,

I dunno. If you are eating a few pounds of jerky, you're crushing the salt way way way bad if you include it with other food.
