Raising the flop is a mistake IMO despite the equity edge. We get hurt really badly when he 3 bets us with the top part of his range, and it stops him from firing with 6 outs on the turn.

Good point

Yeah... And building the pot on the flop is not great in this spot since you almost need to call down if 3-bet, and don't get payed when you hit your draw... hmm it was an interesting idea, but I think calling is better.

raising the flop with a gutshot and one over is not a bad idea. As played I fold river.

[/ QUOTE ]

i mix up raising and calling

that J is a death card though.

You might accidently get value bluffed from a worse A as well

I would represent A7, K7s, a set 88 or 99. Also we can checkbehind on turn UI and induce a bluff on river.

[/ QUOTE ]

My point is that your aren't credibly representing these hands, because you are unlikely to raise the flop with any of them except maybe k7s...

I was definetely surprised to see how much eq hero has. Just calling the flop is my standard play but I would have guessed that hero has something like 40% eq

I dont mind building a big pot when I am in position BTW

If you raise the flop, are you second barrelling the turn, or taking the free one?

I don't think there is a worse ace.

If we raise flop I think taking a free card is better and calling river. That way we don't fold against a semibluff and may induce a pure bluff on river. Also we get an extra chance to hit our draw.

checking behind turn and calling river is so bad. bet the turn and get him to fold a better ace or 6 outs. pretty sure you should fold the river if you take a free card.

I would raise the flop and check behind on the turn. If he bets the river I would call and if he checks the river I would check behind. I would hate to get c/r'd on the river and have to fold. So yea I would go flop raise, turn check, river call or check behind if given the chance.
