One of my favorite stories from childhood.

We would get scorpions in the house occasionally. One crawled up my bedroom wall one night. I freaked a bit. Dad came in and killed it. Just before leaving, he said, "There's probably a mate around here somewhere, so watch out where you walk. Good night."

There's a good night's sleep for a seven year-old. I have never put on a shoe since without shaking it first.

the summer after my senior year of high school we had some dank acid from a renny (sp? -one who frequents renaissance festivals). i took the same stuff about a month before, my first time ever.

we were camping, about 8 of us out of our minds and one sober person.. its about 4 in the morning.. about 10 hours after dropping. past having peaked but still very much tripping (i had visuals 28 hours after i dropped, though i also hadn't slept)..

anyway yeah, im like hrm whats this on my leg, omfg a scorpion. god i suck at telling stories but it was scary and i remember it being about the size of my palm.

the best part of the night was sitting in some foliage between some bushes and cutting open glow sticks and flinging it all around.. since it was pitch black and the leaves were random distances away, so it looked like we were bodyless consciousness in the middle of space, and we were space too yo

I heard from a friend that UV or infrared light, I don't know - some goddamn fancy light - anyway, if you point it at scorpions they will glow in the dark. He and his school made a camping trip out into some extreme desert and turned on the light and it was freaky how many of them you could see.
