Default Is this an angle-shot?

Hustler 1/2 NL. New table...Young guy bets the whole way and old guy calls the whole way. At river young guy tells old guy "Take it", and flips over his hand. Old guy assumes pot is his and mucks. Young guy then jumps up and demands the pot claiming the old guy mucked (which he did, because the young guy said "Take it"). Argument ensues over the fact that the young guy said "Take it". He was clearly conceding the pot. Old guy grabbed his cards (dealer hadn't scrambled the muck) and shows 2 pair. Floor sided with young guy.

The feel at the table was that the old guy "should've" shown his hand, but when the other player told him to "Take it" he was giving the old guy the pot.

Thoughts?
