Re: Does anyone actually like their baseball manager?
Eric Wedge is probably my favorite, but in general I don't dislike and of the AL central division managers. Gardy does do some retarded things that infuriate me though. Batting the 200/250/250 Nick Punto 2nd and sticking Tyner in the leadoff spot vs a lefty (carrer like 180/200/200 vs them) a few times makes me crazy.

Re: Does anyone actually like their baseball manager?
I really didn't meant just to solicit how each of you, as individuals, felt about your manager; rather, I meant to get opinions about which managers (who have been around at least a few years) enjoy some degree of popularity by their fan base.
I realize this may be hard to quantify, but do you have any guesses? Are Wedge and Tito generally popular? |

Are Wedge and Tito generally popular? [/ QUOTE ] Hmm. I don't live in Cleveland anymore, but I don't think people care either way about Wedge. They're largely indifferent to him, which is good, because the best managers are neither seen nor heard. He manages the pitching staff well enough, and with the exception of running Trot Nixon out there every goddamned day, it's tough to be mad at him. No one could be worse than Mike Hargrove, which is what most Clevelanders still remember, so it might be that our populace is a bit jaded. As for Tito, I'm pretty sure that he's well-liked in Boston. He seems to do a fine job. EDIT: Okay, Dusty Baker and Jimy Williams could be worse than Mike Hargrove, yeah yeah. |

Bob Geren is fine with me. He is still the manager there, right?

Re: Does anyone actually like their baseball manager?
people in New York generally still like Torre, I think.
I think Willie takes a lot of unnecessary abuse from Met fans - at least whenever I listen to WFAN. It almost feels racist to me, 'cause I can think of no other reason why some of these people come up with some of these complaints. |

Yeah. He's fine, but it's not like he does anything.

That's more of a design of the front office rather than his choice, though.
