I call the turn here and look him up on a ton of non diamond rivers.

This is kinda what I was getting at with this thread. I didn't know the villain well enough to know what he would do with 98 on the river, or what he would do with a busted draw. In that case, isn't it best to make a smallish raise? He's not coming back over the top without a hand I'm crushed by, so we charge draws, and take a free showdown on the river. If I feel that I can safely fold to a bet on a blank river, then I lean towards just calling on the turn.

Thoughts on this?

call behind, seems like a blocking bet with a flush draw or open ender trying to induce a flat call from you. flat call and look him up if a blank comes on river...cannot see him making such a donkish bet at 2/4 NL with an A in his hand.

what are people's thoughts about raising turn smallish (for value vs draws) and making it the last $$ we put in the pot?

[/ QUOTE ]

YEAH MOSSMAN AT 2/4 WOOT WOOT.
/end my celebration, happy for you.

this is a decent spot to call the turn and "evaluate" the river (ie. call alot of them) if you think he's so passive this is trips (would be a weird line) then you can fold as you're drawing dead, but I think I see a river here.

I'm not raising though, others may advocate that weirdly?

This is some pretty backwards logic. You think his bet screams draw, yet you don't want to raise why? Raising small and calling both are good options, I like raising better since if you call and he pots the river on a non diamond you're going to have to call and hate it.

people take this line sooooooo oftne with diamonds trying to price themselves in on the turn... Just to make it like 95 here and check behind rivers is getting the most value IMO.

thanks for stopping in Bobbo!

I am curious what it is that you dislike about making a smallish raise on the turn, if you plan to call most rivers anyways?
