Legends of Poker Day 2, 300/600/100.

This was the 4th hands from the start of Day 2. I raised 2 out of the first 3 hands pf taking down blinds/antes.

UTG 16K (a guy in mid 30s, no read, never played before) raises to 2500. Fold to me at MP+1 with two black Aces. I have 15K.

Push, raise, call?

[/ QUOTE ]

You've already raised 2 of first 3 hands. Why not raise again? Make it 6K- make him think he has some FE with a push against the 'obvious' table bully.

NY...I like to raise only because of your raising 2/3 hands...I think a deviation here may set off some alarms? Though I hate to say it maybe a minraise looking like you are continuing your table captain ways and hope the UTG makes a move?

People, opening 2/3 hands and reraising an UTG+1 raiser are not the same thing. Just because a guy has been openining liberally, it doesn't mean it sets off alarms when he just smoothcalls an EP raise in position.

no bells are going off if we smooth call, his bet sizing says that imo. and we dont have any read that says he will cbet every flop, if he c/f AK with any reasonable frequency then i think preflop is bad.

Without knowing anything about him, if you say that sometimes he check/folds missed hands then sometimes he'll be the kind of guy who mucks QQ if you shove preflop here.

edit: I assumed that 16K was the effective stack size. Is this true?

True.

agreed, he might, but it doesn't seem like that often espec when its so easy to put people on AK. my insticts tell me that the pros of shoving outweigh it but as i have 0 math to back it up i'm really not sure which is better.
