Cheat days are fine. They help me stay motivated all week, cause I know on the weekend I can get some pizza, ice cream, chinese, etc. You should still be getting in 5 or 6 (or more) meals though and each meal should still contain an adequate amount of protein.

Could be done over 3 months without a problem. Not a full year.

No. Your metabolism would downshift very quickly and adapt.

You could do this if you were very fat. If even somewhat chubby you'd see falloff pretty rapidly.

Note: Since your green and this is your forum. I will post some reasoning. Over ~3 months you'll lose around 18 pounds of fat mass and then whatever LBM loss you'll face as well from this caloric deficit. This in and of itself is more than enough to lower you BMR and slow down you fat loss. Coupling this with the fact that you're past general recommendations for fat loss (~1 pound a week for most people is considered the norm) you'll likely see some kickback since half the week you're taking in only 2/3rd of your required calories. Even a fairly fat person who is ~200 and 20% body fat will be almost cutting his fat mass in half across this period.

There exist plenty of supplements to stop the metabolic slowdown over a short-term period. I guess I think 1000 calorie deficit per day is a bit much, but 2000 calories/week is sissy stuff.

Heh. That clearly defeats the purpose of the discussion as "supplements" can range in potency and dose from minor aid to being more effective than a low dose of steroids.

But yeah, 2k is like .6lbs of fat lost a week. Pretty low. 5k is just absurd and likely will leave you in shitzvilled if <15% BF.

There is no way I would tell people to do 5k/week if they were < 15% BF. Most of the people that need 5k deficit per week are 20%+.

The sort-of-fat dude should clearly not do that, but the BMR on a huge fatso is super high.
