dcviper,

I'm going to Vegas for the first time as well in September. A few differences: I'm 32 and bringing my gf (who luckily is a poker player as well), but these are some of the things we'll be doing:

* Playing the Venetian MTTs (best structure and value)
* Going rock climbing/hiking on Red Rock
* Watching 'Ka' (a Cirque show on MGM)
* Eating at several good places, Top of the World, Delmonico etc
* Going to the Double Down Saloon, as advertised by MrTiMCaum in this thread.
* Seeing the Bellagio fountains is a must obviously
* Going to the Grand Canyon by helicopter/doing the airwalk/hiking

Check out allvegaspoker.com for more ideas.

Caesars is running some 10k chip tourneys on the weekends, so you should at least check those out. Venetian has them everyday I think too. Venetian > Caesars IMO.

What buyins?

$330 and $540 if memory serves me right.

Venetian $330 is 6k chips. The $540 only runs on Saturday and Sunday.

The Caesars tournies have been redone, and all come much deeper stacked than before. I believe they are a better value than the Venetian ones now.

I'm going 18-25th August.

Like Soulman, I'm also 32 and going with my other half. Unlike Soulman, my wife isn't a poker player, and she said I can only have a couple of nights of poker

I think Venetian > Caesar's. I didn't get to play in the Venetian, but I wish I did. I played the Caesar's noon 200$ tourney. I guess i'll write up a trip report. I've been meaning to.

machine,

check LasVegasMichael's thread in the B&M forum FAQ thread for MTT suggestions - the $64 MTT in the Sahara is probably your best bet (goes off 3 times daily with 60-100 entrants).

Low-limit cash games I don't know much about, apparently the MGM games are fishy and well-run ($1-2 and $2-5 NL).
