$100 and under tournies -- i like the orleans more than the sahara b/c the blind progression is slower.

the sahara is good too but it keeps doubling after like level 5 or 6....but hey for $62, what can u expect?

i heard PH's tournies are good for under $100 as well.

my fav tourney is the nightly venetian. it's $130 for 2,500 in chips and $50 for 2K add-on. so $180 for 4,500 in chips. 30 min blinds and it has a much favorable blind progression.

if u can shell out $330, wynn is good with 45 min blinds and pretty gradual as well.

the caesars changed their buy ins but i believe it is $150 at 7pm (4K or 4500 in chips, 40 min blinds, but quicker progression compared to V) the 11pm is $120 and they have Fri/Sat tournies too...just check out their website.

i pretty much stick to orleans if i want <$100 and play at Caesars or Venetian for under 200.

another word of advice which has helped me out a ton since i moved here....store all the poker room numbers in your cell....call them 45 mins or so bfore u re gonna head out and see what the wait situation is....it took about a week or 2 of going to bellagio only to be stuck on a 30 name wait list bfore my [censored] caught on to just call them bfore.

The 5/10 NL right there at the Bellagio is very nice, several guys who didn't even know the rules when I was there.

You want him to spend his entire trip budget on one buy-in?

No I'm just planting the idea of him taking more dough with him or thinking about it for the next trip.

I am in the same situation as OP and was going to post such a thread... but then I read the FAQ, and behold, here a thread already is. Anyway, I play low stakes and would also appreciate reading any further advice on where/what to play and see while I'm there.

I'm going with my girlfriend's family, so just about everything will be paid for (except gambling obv), and we'll be staying at Caesar's Palace. I'm not interested in drinking establishments or strip clubs, but some of the shows could be a good time.

There was a link to Ticketmaster around here about a month ago that had Cirque tickets for $57.50. Only 2 of the shows actually had tix available. We were able to see KA at MGM for $57.50. Lot's of brownie points with the wife!!!

The 4/8 limit game at Mandalay Bay was full of people staying there for a convention and just looking for entertainment while being able to sit down.

I just got back from several weeks in Vegas, and I would highly recommend playing in the 2pm or 8pm Tourney downtown at Binions.

The players there are very soft, and the prize pools are very good.

If you are looking for more of a challange, I agree with the poster who recommended the Venitian. Good structure for those who are Tight players, gives you plunty of room to manuver, and rewards good players (and there are plunty of really good players who play there).

Friday's and Saturday's at 2pm they (Binions) add 10k to the event.

If you are lookin for a place to stay, I would recommend staying at the Four Queens.

It's inexpensive, and the rooms have been recently remodled.

If all you are looking for is a place to sleep, while I've not stayed there, you might try Binions.

Call them up and ask for the poker Rate. It's $39 on the weekends, and $29 a night during the week.

You just need to once you arrive, to go play a little bit in the cash games downstairs, to get the rate.

The 1/2 NL game there at Binons is really wonderful, lots of fish to take their money from (and it was sooo great to be able to play REAL poker for a chance, instead of the no fold 'em Hold 'em that passes for live action poker where I live in Colorado).

Stay away from the rooms at the Orleans, most god awful fleebag of a hotel that I've every seen (and I've seen plunty as I used to travel as part of my job). The beds are so soft you just can't sleep on them, and they line them with plastic or something, where when you do try to sleep on them, you'll sweat your arse off.

Food, I'd recommend Binions again in their coffee shop in the Basement. The Filet there, is melt in your mouth delicious, and will cost you about 12 or 13 bucks.

At the 4 Queens you can get a prime rib steak dinner for under 7 bucks, if you sign up for their players club.

Food on the strip I found was overpriced and not very good for the most part.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I plan to try some 4/8 and some 1/2 and hopefully get into a couple 50-125 tourneys.

Also, are there no liqour shops out there? BYOB if you want to drink in the room before?

You can get plunty of Liqour at the tables, or even just down in the casinos (it's free there). Just park yourself close to a slot machine, and wait for the drink lady to come around, and tip her a buck for the effort.

If you want to have some in your room, well I can't really tell you where to get it (liqour stores that is), as I'm not that much of a drinker.

Some hotels, depending on where you are staying, have mini bars in the rooms (like the Rio Does), but they can be expensive.
