Default Re: AA flopped set against good player, how to maximise value?

I think you have to bet 1/2 to 3/4 of pot.

The reason is because you said he is a good player and you put in a really big raise. He has to think you have a High Pocket pair (or unlikely but possible AK). With KK's, and QQ's you'd have to bet this flop so also do it with AA.

Without an Ace in his hand, he won't give you any action unless he hits a flush. If he has an Ace and you bet it, maybe you'll get lucky and he calls.

Whenever you are in doubt in a situation like this, you are always better off betting.

quads, sets, straights, flushes, straight flushes I am always going to bet in these spots

Scare cards that shut villian down or cards that let him catch up are always hitting on later streets and you have to start getting the money in somewhere. May as well be now

Do you have A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]?

Either way, while suspicious, I think checking is best and this is what I'd do with JJ-KK too. He won't fold an ace whatever and he'll pay off one street with 99-KK probably, and somewhat more probably a street closer to showdown.
