can someone spoil it for me? i have no desire to google it, or read any of the 18 harry potter books, or watch any of the harry potter movies, but i want to know the ending.

however, i will continue to watch the SNL harry potter sketch with (younger, hotter, not yet gay) lindsay lohan as hermione.

I read his avatar and figured it had to be a joke. Who would actually make an avatar for the sole purpose of getting people upset over Harry Potter on the internet? I don't know if it's true or not so it won't really ruin much, but it did seem like a plausible ending...

I mean, i dont want to spoil it for you, but at the end of Romeo and Juliet they both die! It wasnt a love story, but a tragedy! Shock!

Permaban?

Does every single review now have to have a spoiler alert? Is this being limited to Harry Potter Books? Any books? Films? What if i review a product, do i have to post a spoiler alert?

Im not being a nit here, well i probably am, but:

a, You need to roll this out to cover EVERYTHING if you cover HP
b, Permabanning people is at best misguided and at worst entirely disproportionate to the 'crime'

To expand on B - Dan Bright was recently unbanned and he posted hardcore porn with the heads of Tuff Fish's daughter and DS photoshopped onto the porn stars. Where is the line?

Ruining the ending to a book or movie that just came out should warrant a lengthy ban of some type.

As alluded to in my original response, quoting hypnotoad, I'd rather not people did the spoiler thing, just so we don't have to deal with the angry HP nerd hordes, BUT, I still don't see how it ranks even close to the "big 3" of banning (racism, PORN, profanity) unles you just throw it into the "sucking" category which is wholly subjective, in most cases (aside from blutarski).

Its really simple. Many of us (including many mods) do not want these spoilers posted. The only way to stop these spoilers from being posted is the threat of a permaban. Everything else you just talked about can be deleted and if deleted fast enough, the harm is minimal. Not so with spoilers. It should be noted I did not ban mmbt0ne.
