Re: Playing online @ a coffee shop
I've been assuming that the Verizon/Sprint etc. plans only work in the US, and whatever Canadian version only in Canada. Right? It could be really useful for me if there was one that worked in both the US and Canada.

Re: Playing online @ a coffee shop
OP:
there is a risk, but it's somewhat similar to the risk that you incur on an office network - theoretically, people can hack in, but it is unlikely. the 5 or 10 people on the network are unlikely to: a) be hackers b) be targetting you |

Re: Playing online @ a coffee shop
Cingular amd Verizon have beem advertising about international coverage in major cities for their phones and hand-held internet thingees.
If I'm correct that it's probably the same technology then it seems likely that the hi-speed wireless internet would be working in these cities also. The latest commercial that has been playing is of this girl getting ready for her flight to Paris but she is quite emotional and seems afraid to go. Then the famous Verizon guy is there to console her and tells her that she doesn't have to say goodbye to her handheld. She can take it with her. Next scene she is in Paris happily clicking away on her little internet device. So there's an increasing chance that this stuff might work in more and more of Canada. Not really sure. You can call Verizon and ask of course...and poke around on their website for broadband access international coverage. I might do that myself at some point as I'm kind of curious. |
