Re: JJ overpair gets 3bet on drawy flop ($150 6max early)
Tournament players are bad.
BB's range here is lots of things: draws, combos, sets, overpairs, nonsense like TP. Given the money in the pot, shoving agaisnt that range will be +cEV. Raise-folding on this flop is really bad. Once we raise, we're moving in if we get three-bet. |

Re: JJ overpair gets 3bet on drawy flop ($150 6max early)
I would discount FD possibilities. Most villains who are the type to lead a FD in this situation lead for more chips, looking to 3bet allin or take down the pot. Moreover, the weird 4bet size instead of shoving also leans me away from a FD.
On the other hand, I definitely see villain playing a set this way. Two pair is unlikely. QQ+ is unlikely (AA/KK almost never, QQ every once and awhile). So we're beating 99/TT/8x, and this line would be pretty odd for those hands, although not impossible. There's also the donk-factor, though. Meh, I think it's pretty close. Folding with 2300 chips behind at 15/30 can't be awful. |

Re: JJ overpair gets 3bet on drawy flop ($150 6max early)
I'm kind of with UCLA. Small flop lead plus big flop 3-bet scares the crap outa me. Also when I get donked into in spots like this, my first thought is always, "what do i do if i get 3-bet." If I dont have an easy answer to that question I often just call. Although there are some situations where raising is importand enough that you then suck it up and raise anyway. I probably would do that here because the lead is so small. If he had led for like 180-200 im usually just calling.

How can you possibly just call a big bet with the board can kill you action on the next card in so many ways. What happens if an over card or a diamond come. then you lose a nice pot that could be taken down now when you are a big favorite.

Re: JJ overpair gets 3bet on drawy flop ($150 6max early)
when people lead here you almost enver get a lot of action from a made hand you are ahead of. its almost always either a feeler bet with a mid strength hand looking to fold to a raise, or a giant hand looking to stack an OP, or a giant draw which is 50% against us anyway. So you are not a big favorite at all against his leading range. and the hands you are a big fav against are drawing slim v you anyway. and its hard for them to bluff scare cards, because your hand looks like a draw as well. So control pot size, and leave yourself some stack depth with to make a decision on the turn.

Re: JJ overpair gets 3bet on drawy flop ($150 6max early)
This pot has spiralled out of control on the flop. Get the hell out.
Also, if you raised without a clear idea of what was going to happen on a call or raise, that was a mistake too. |

Re: JJ overpair gets 3bet on drawy flop ($150 6max early)
shocker, why?
what hands do you expect to get the money in against? what hands do you expect to take the pot down now against? |

Re: JJ overpair gets 3bet on drawy flop ($150 6max early)
All,
I agree with MLG. If he'd potted the flop, I'd call and see a turn. I raised the flop due to his small bet size and would probably raise with a lot of other hands as well. I was planning on instacalling a shove and expect to see a draw, 99-TT, even [censored] like A8 a lot, but when he made the small 3bet, I was unsure. |
