They seem to be short staffed in terms of floor people. I had to wait just for someone to show up to put me on the list. Also, I played in my first Showboatament, and they had to register my player's card in their computer before I could pay the cashier for the tournament, something I never experienced in any other casino. I won't be hurrying back.

Hi Eric,

I played at the Showboat two month ago and heard a rumor that they had planned to expand the poker room.

They planned on moving the room to across the hall to the hall (club) area and the current room serve as strictly a Showboatament den.

I have my doubts as to whether or not this will happen.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hi Mike,

Who told you this zany rumor? I tend to doubt it as the room is frequently dead besides prime time.

Plus, there are pictures of nekkid ladies on the wall, lots of flat-screen TVs, bottled beer and a hawt dealer named Fanny . What's not to love?

QFT... except for the excitement over the Rubenesque women painted on the walls. Maryna (sp?) is easy on the eyes, too, when she sits down at your table to deal, and Kellie the Floor Manager hits the trifecta: good-looking, friendly, and competent.

The room is not the best managed in AC by any means, but the competition is soft and the tournament structure allows for a fair amount of play. Although I've had some problems with how the tournaments are run, it's never been bad enough to stop me from coming back. Then again, maybe I've just decided to look the other way because I've been able to make 4 final tables out of 8 entries this year.

I think my biggest peeve about the room is that the comps suck. I've played well over 100 hours of cash games at Showboat this year, and last I checked, I've only earned $7 in comps. A few visits ago, I asked the floor for a comp for the buffet, and he looked at me like I had 3 heads.

My understanding is that the comp problem originates with Harrahs, Showboat's owner, and extends to all of Harrahs' properties. I find it ironic that the company that owns the WSOP does so little to encourage poker players to return to its casinos.

Also has a fun personality and pitches the cards fast and moves the game along without ever seeming pushy. I always feel like I'm getting 10 more hands a down when she sits.

Funny, there was another Russian dealer who served me a cold deck in 1/2 NL. Set over set, cya $300 buyin, gg. The game was good, but I was on tilt by then, and I was just going to make it better for others.

That was probably Elena, she is amazing, easily my favorite dealer at the Showboat. Hilarious. Not hot like Maryna but really funny and good. And fast.

Yeah, that was Elena. I agree that she's easily the best dealer there, at least when she doesn't give me undersets.
