That sucks. 5/10 is rarely as good as 6/12. The change problem is easily solved by giving everyone equal amounts of red and white chips and candycaning them. $2 chips of course is the best solution.

Here's a link to the relevant NJ Casino Control Commision regulation.

And to quote the relevant passage:

19:46-1.1A Value chips; denominations; physical characteristics

(b) Each casino licensee shall be authorized to issue and use value chips in denominations of $1.00, $2.50, $5.00, $10.00, $20.00, $25.00, $100.00, $500.00, $1,000, $5,000 and $20,000 and in such quantities as the casino licensee may deem appropriate to conduct gaming or simulcast wagering in its casino or casino simulcasting facility.

Also of interest is that the "primary" color of casino chips must be the same at every casino...the regulations not only state what color each chip must be, but what specific shade of that color under the "Munsell System of Color Coding".

Chip denoms: http://www.state.nj.us/casinos/actre...hapter_46.html

It wasn't the change that was the problem, it was the same 4 octogenarians only showing up every time they called a new game. I'd rather have a running 5/10 (maybe we can talk them into a kill while the game's still young)

Thanks Nick, I was getting Vegas and NJ rules confused (and its only been 7 months!). In Vegas they can approach the Gaming Commission to have custom chips made, in AC they cannot change the chip limits as you have pointed out.

Neat stuff. Are those colors standard in Vegas too?

I thought I was mishearing them when they were calling the game as well. I think it may lead to a bit of confusion as there is a 5/10 NL game as well. As long as they always announce limit or no limit, it will work out fine.

Pretty cool, 6/12 was pretty lame / not running during peakish hours when I was there last. Dealers were saying everyone hates it.

TT,

Remember when we could not get a mixed 5-10 game going because the Borgata did not have a permit to run 5-10 hold em?

With this rule change perhaps the Borgata will now set up a 5-10 HOSE game. Hold em, Omaha eight or better, Stud, Stud eight or better.
