Omaha8 is not as prevalent as Holdem... Get better by playing, expecting someone to give you a solution is just foolish.

This from the same guy who said in my thread "tell me where these games are & I'll tell ya how to beat em".

Imagine that, a poker player you can't trust to be honest.

What is the world coming to?

What approaches do you use when playing full ring, and nearly all hands are raised preflop, usually 3 beat & often capped.

Generally 4 - 5 players seeing the flop with any 4, & a couple that will invariably play second rate holdings to showdown.

For anyone automatically assuming this is an ideal situation, the end result is that you can never put a player on a hand range, and every backdoor possibility is a live one for these guys.

Table average VPIP is usually 45-55%. The resident maniacs are often 60-40 or so, with some players VPIP in the 80-100% range.

All suggestions much appreciated.

Tell me where this is at and I'll tell you how to beat it.

i'm not sure if i screwed up this post or if it was edited by the mods, but...

most of the "good" players from this forum were banned or stopped posting or reduced their involvement quite a while back.

i would go as far to say that there is no "good" o8 (pl, nl, or fl) forum on the net. that being said, there are some gems in the archives here... if you can navigate the crappy search function.

Who the [censored] are you to make such statements. You think we all suck here and and have no clue how to play? Just make an open challenge and I am sure someone will play you hu for rolls.

There is not much precise advice on how to play 6-max omaha8b, cause there are no autopliot methods to beat it. Short handed hi-lo is kind of uncharted teritory, just look at the big FT limit games its mostly omaha because no one is an expert in it.

Advice to go out and play is probably as good as it gets.
Everyone will play all kinds of trash so the winner will be someone who plays best on later streets.

Try to watch the game closely and anwser some question like.

1. Who gets married with they god starters and cannot release them?

2. Does this guy who plays 90% VPIP plays also that loose post flop or does he need to hit good to continue?

3. Is there someone who raises only some specific kind of hands ?

4. Who can be bluffed when the flop comes with mid-cards ?

Etc. if you get good lines on how someone plays you should do ok.

Some of you must believe there is Holy Grail out there and 2+2 mods have hidden it.

[/ QUOTE ]Kuso - I'm not sure either, since there are a couple other mods who theoretically could edit on the Omaha-8 forum. Various 2+2 administrators could also edit your posts.

But I don't think anyone would cut your off half of your post in mid sentence.

I don't even think anybody else (besides me) is currently moderating this forum. I get messages from time to time (seems like several daily) complaining about a post. These all have to do with the thread having no content, the poster berating another poster in an abusive fashion, or a post advertising some commercial venture including offers to provide private tutoring. I'm probably going to delete these posts.

I also might delete an obviously inconsequential post or a post complaining about another post if that enabled me to completely get rid of any reference to the other post. In other words, if you complain about a post and if I read your complaint and agreed with it, I'd probably delete both your complaint and the post that offended you.

Otherwise I'm not going to edit any of your posts, whether I agree with you or not, unless you specifically ask me to make an edit for you and I am able to accommodate you.

I haven't moved one yet, but I guess at some point I'll feel that is appropriate and then I'll somehow figure out how to move it, or ask someone who knows.

I'm just taking over for Felicia while she recovers, but I think that was her policy too.

[/ QUOTE ]I think there were some posters who got banned. But the bans were certainly not for good posts. (I'm not sure what the precise reasons have been for anybody getting banned). But it's very hard for me to believe "most" of the good players were banned. I think it was relatively few, and for rather flagrant violations of the posting rules and after having been first warned with a short suspension.

People get themselves banned from public poker casinos too. You have to wonder what someone has to do to get banned from a public casino. I think it's mostly for being extremely verbally abusive to dealers and other patrons. I suppose someone could be intentionally defiant to the authority of the casino floor-person, enough to really piss him/her off, and get banned for that too, or someone could get banned for being offensive in some other way or simply acting insane.

[/ QUOTE ]I'm sorry you feel that way. I think there are some very excellent posters who still post on this forum. Actually, I think you are one of them.

[/ QUOTE ]Sifting through all the chaff for some kernels of wisdom seems difficult to me also. I don't know how the search function could be changed, but if you have a suggestion as to how specifically to improve the search function, you might suggest it, either directly to Mason Malmouth or Mat Sklansky, or indirectly to me (I'll make sure it gets passed along and give you full credit for the idea).
