Are these programs you speak of capable of only seeing one computers operations or could it see everyone at a tables hole cards. The way he describes it in his book he says his friend logged on to a site, sat at a table, with people he had never seen/played with before, and made a few mouse clicks and voila! there were all of the hole cards at the table big and plain as you can see!

Sound like a fairy tale or a nightmare!

As I said before the trojans are NOT poker specific. You would have to have a way to get it installed on your mark's computer first. Its a 1:billion chance that a hacker will get a table where all of his targeted computers are at the same table.

I agree that this is highly unlikely. The cheat would have to know your IP address, and the IP addresses of the other players. Then they would have to install it themselves or get you to install it. I would assume that if you have a firewall and an up to date internet security program then it would be virtually impossible to put the trojan in unless the victim were to download the program themselves. You could also block the IRC ports on your firewall, but there are ways around that.

Either way, if you are on the internet for any purpose ( porn ), you should have a internet security program running.

The way Marcus describe it in his book it didn't sound like a trojan. He described it as a program that a guy created and kept between him and his associates that he sold to for 30k apiece. To make sure they were serious about the endeavor I guess. This program was not able to be copied once bought, and enable the user to log on to a poker site, (I don't know if it was a particular site or all of them the book is not specific), and after "a few clicks of the mouse" see all of the players hole cards face up. Sounds fanciful and scary at the same time. Sounds like after this discussion that it is unlikely this could happen, but that is of course why I originally posted it.

everyone and his mother has called Marcus a lier, if I ever meet him I'd say that to his face based on what I read in this thread alone - he is either very ignorant or he made that up. Mason has already said he is not credible. I think you should accept what Mason says and move on, its not an issue worth worrying about.

Thanks and I have moved on based on this discussion, my last post I just wanted to be exactly clear for anyone that didn't read the book as to what Marcus said and how he himself described it. Sorry if it seemed like I distrusted anyones opinion here, and I really appreciate the postings.

thx

One last thing about marcus, he states in his book that he had a friend that he calls preacher, and his wife that they colluded together in Aruba. He also stated that preacher won an event at the 2005 WSOP, which Marcus adds that preacher was part of collusion in.
My question is does anyone have any idea who this Preacher guy might be? Just curious.

Thx
