Re: WSOP player claims he folded AA on the bubble
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] lol you're shocked someone made a -ev play? [/ QUOTE ] This particular play is horrendous. Can someone make the money without knowing that AA is the BEST POSSIBLE STARTING HAND? At the very least, he could push preflop and guarantee that his money gets in good. Even if he just wins the blinds. I mean, he must not want to be a millionaire. And then he tells someone what a dufus he is as though he is bragging. [/ QUOTE ] I am sure he knows it is the best starting hand. What you don't know is all sorts of information that you would need to know to conclude that FOR HIM is was a bad play. If all he wanted to do was ITM, good fold if he gets ITM. If his goal is to win, bad move, obv. In that position, after 3 days of playing, I am sure that others folded AA, and a bunch of people were praying for 72o. NCAces |

Re: WSOP player claims he folded AA on the bubble
i am just saying, that even in the most extreme circumstances, it still is the right play. If you need to cash that bad and are already short, then doubling up all but guarantees it...and there is still a good enough chance nobody calls...i would say my if i need to cash that bad then I'm so fortunate I just picked up aces because it increases my chance that much more

Re: WSOP player claims he folded AA on the bubble
also, there was almost no satellite program which forced him to play in the tournament, so if the money was so important he could have easily taken 10K and not played...making his move probably the worst play committed in the entire wsop

Re: WSOP player claims he folded AA on the bubble
Even if he bought in with 10k, he could still fold there. He just wants to prove to himself or whoever that he can play with the best of them. Its a big ego-shot to him if he doesn't make the money when he's so close. By folding he probably lost ~5k equity. Making it ITM was probably worth more than that to him.
I used to play tournaments with this idea: 1. Make it ITM as often as possible no matter what. 2. Once ITM, try to get first. It's just a low-variance low EV high self-esteem strategy. |
