If you don't want to take the 7 train, you can also take the LIRR from NY Penn to Shea. Its a bit quicker/air conditioned/less crowded, but costs about $10 more.

I believe they tried to ban it recently and failed.

Confirmed. Just brown bag it and be low key.

The most important thing to know is that you MUST dispose of it as soon as you get off the train. There will be cops in the Shea Stadium station looking to ticket anybody who is carrying an open container.

consider this your confirmation. Its about 6 pack ride for you and a buddy if you pound them quick. Driving is NOT an option, just no parking around with the Citibank field construction.

BTW, the bohemiean beer garden is in fact where it's at, sure to be a good time. To get there by subway after the game take the 7 train back towards manhattan, transfer at queensboro plaza and take the N/W towards Ditmars. Get off at Astoria blvd. Its on 29st and 24ave. Yes, i spend way too much time there. . .

a poster above mentioned that the beer garden is not as cool as it used to be and that's true. The williamsburg trustifarians have tried to take over. If you want something slightly different and less crowded try the water taxi beach in LIC queens. Take the 7 from shea and go to the Vernon/Jackson stop and walk towards the water. They actually imported tons of sand and picnic tables and has the best views of manhattan you will ever see. The beer selection is not as impressive though.

Have fun,
BS
