Samsung SCH-i730 [/ QUOTE ] This phone sucks. "The bad: No support for modem use with a laptop; Wi-Fi and phone can't work simultaneously; Wi-Fi is a battery hog; no camera in initial Verizon release." |

I dont have any first hand knowledge of the Samsung, but I had a 650 for a while and upgraded to the 700W almost a year ago and really like it. Windows Mobile is smooth to use, IE is decent for surfing, etc. The only issue I have is it sometimes loses its "sync" for emails, requiring a soft reset. Camera is decent, and it has MMS.
Not sure on the bluetooth as my laptop doesnt have it, but I did find a 3rd party software that allows me to use a USB cable and turns the 700 into a modem. (they also have this for the 650) IMHO the 700W is light years better than the 650. Cliff notes: Get the 700w, my 0.02 |

Bluetooth tethering ability is not totally necessary, as a USB cable will suffice (it should charge it too, which is a nice feature). However, Bluetooth by itself is definitely necessary for object push/pull and GPS.
I'll check it out though. |

The only thing i use Bluetooth for is my headset, might be because I am an old, not-so-techno-savvy fart. Not sure what info you are push/pulling, but the menu allows you to Wireless Sync pretty much anything you might need. It also allows very smooth viewing of Word/Excel, etc. (Again i speak of the 700w)
Good luck with whatever you choose, in my experience it seems they all have some limitation. |

"Verizon doesn't use SIM cards like the backwater idiotic company they are."
CDMA is actually more advanced than GSM. Also, right now you're boned, Verizon's smartphone selection is [censored]. The Q is as good as we've got. Later this year the lineup will be getting a lot better, but right now it's the Q, a Treo of some flavor(which will be both pricey and kind of crappy), or something released in like 2004(The XV6700 and i730). It's not QWERTY, but VZW does sell one other WM5 device, the PN-820. If QWERTY(sp?) isn't a dealbreaker she may be the best fit for you. |

Kyleb, how can you praise the data rates on the one hand and call Verizon a "backwater" on the other? It's the CDMA EV-DO that gives you those data rates and differentiates Verizon (and Sprint) from the true backwaters. No way that'll hold up. It would murder Verizon and Sprint. Something will get worked out. The XV6800 and Samsung i760 will fix most of Verizon's smartphone lineup woes.

lol no kidding. Kyleb, how can you praise the data rates on the one hand and call Verizon a "backwater" on the other? [/ QUOTE ] Because their phones are consistently 2 years behind current technology. That's how I can call it backwater. |
