Re: Hand from ME 1b from technologic
Do we have to shove this? Isn't it possible to be something like 10,000?
I would normally give up on the turn or the river. |

Re: Hand from ME 1b from technologic
i am not known to bluff all in without anything, i've probably pulled this move around 1-2 times prior in my life before. given that johnnybax seemed to know who i was, even though i didn't know who he was, i thought my fold equity was huge against any non-nuts hand.
betting 10k is like giving him 10k for free, imo. |

Re: Hand from ME 1b from technologic
If you have the ace of spades IMO this is a great play. I know personally that Bax especially will almost always raise the turn here with two pair or better. On the river if you have the ace of spades, he has a flush very very rarely, given his range preflop for calling with two spades in his hand, the fact that he raises (or atleast, very often raises) the turn with two pair or better, his call on the flop, and the spades on the board (Qs, 9s) [this limits his possible spades to KJs, JTs basically]. You frequently bluff him off one pair here, IMO.
Of course, my opinion sucks. |

Re: Hand from ME 1b from technologic
Yeah I like this a whole lot more with the ace of spades and I would be a lot more prone to do this move with it. Then we could rep AK spades, AA with the ace of spades, etc.
If Im villain Im having a hard time putting hero on something and if Bax has the ace of spades (AQo) I think you get looked up here a ton of the time. I figure you'd check/call with an overpair here. Would you do this with QQQ, JJJ, or 777 now that the flush hit? I would think you'd be more likely to check/call or value bet around 9000-11000. |

Re: Hand from ME 1b from technologic
I am keeping in mind that hero doesn't know its Bax but what does that really mean? I think its more relevant that Bax is in the hand and is a competent hand reader and can understand that your line isn't really consistent with much of anything but AKs.
If he has a hand that has the ace of spades its ugly for you and your getting called. Don't rule out J10 spades that picked up the pair with the flush draw on the turn for him, either. 810 spades is also very probable. |
