Very tacky to push to collect while someone is playing in the ME. Would have to think I would have made many, many, unsuccessful attempts first, and then still not do this. Bad form, if for nothing else than for the other players at his table. This is the problem with lending money in the first place.

I normally stay out of the Hizzle threads because I don't want to get involved because I know him and I like the guy a lot but for some reason your post really struck a nerve. What makes you think its ok for someone to spend their money on buying into the main event but not pay back a debt? Its a 10k buyin dude... thats not small. If I was Hizzle I'd do the same - stand there and demand payment until I got it, being a debtor is 100x scummier than hovering over a main event table to collect.

I don't know the guy but it is pretty pathetic trying to collect a debt in the middle of a tournament. The guy's a donk for lending all that money to begin with.

Neverwin might have been staked by someone to play in the ME. If so how does that factor into the scum level....

My general rule is this:

Lend money only if you EXPECT to never get it back. (This will often be the case.)

Consider all loans as merely gifts. (Are you feeling generous?)

This way you will never be disappointed or upset about not receiving payment. What happened is exactly what you expected.

Either that, or have the person sign a contract. If you're gonna get upset about not getting paid back, best to just go ahead and make a contract so you have legal options.

neverwin is in debt in the hundred thousands territory, maybe more but I couldn't back it up. i know hes in debt 20k to a personal friend, who is knowledgeable of what goes around enough to suggest he's in a similar situation with numerous others.

and its one of those slimy situations where you cant be a dick to him about it elsewise he just wont pay the money back.

as such there is probably a group of 50+ people waiting on neverwin to have a large tournament score so they can get in line. meanwhile neverwin continues to be the definition of "uber-broke".
