There is a mathematical advantage to being all-in, so someone who doesn't play very well might be better off with a short stack. I think there's a definite psychological advantage to having a bunch of chips in front of me.

Stud/8 in particular is a game where you can really put people through the wringer. Since I tend to be the wringor a lot more than I am the wringee, I want to have enough money in front of me to take full advantage of these situations.

I see many of us buying in for at least 20BB, some buy-in for 25BB or between 30-40BB (is this necessary at the micro-limits?). So at what point am I reloading, when I get below 16BB? At the $0.10/$0.25 table I play at, I typically buy-in for $5.00 (20BB). Should I be buying in for $6.00 and if I drop below $4.00 (16BB) reload back to $6.00? Most of the donks I play against come to the table with $2.00 or $3.00.

Ideally you'd never start a hand below $4. Sometimes you get caught rebuying slow, but that should be your goal. As Andy says this is especially important in Stud/8, because if you get a chance to whipsaw, you want to exploit it to the max.

I typically buy in for 50BB anywhere below 10/20 and 25-30BB above. That high so many people are buying in for 20 or less that 50 looks really out of place. It's pretty common to buy in for 30BB and cover the table.

I play 5/10 BM and buy in for 200. If I get down to 100 or 10BB are start to evaluate if I'm doing something wrong of if it is one of those days. If I lose all 20BB then I know either somthing is wrong, or it is one of those days. Either way I stop playing for the day.

A stop-loss of 20 BB is just way too low.

Well I've been successful for months at it. I don't really think so if you play a tight-aggressive game. I rarely find myself down even 10BB. Again though different player, different play, different strategies, but I noticed sometimes thinks just don't go your way for that day, so instead of putting 30 to 40 BB on the table, and risk losing all of it to have to make up, I just risk 20BB. If I have one losing session it will take me probably one session to make it back, lose 40BB that a week of profit at 1BB an hour, the golden goal, to make it back.
