The nerve of some of these places............DISGUSTING!!!

.............and dealers expect decent tips, pleeeeeeez.

[/ QUOTE ]

The dealers are probably hoping for decent tips because, like most dealers, they depend on them. No matter how much rake a house might take, they still pay their dealers like crap.

For the life of me I can't understand any intelligent 2+2'r paying that kind of rake, ever. Why even sit down? I love playing live as much as the next guy, but I would never pay those rates, especially in the internet poker age we're in now.

5/10 $1/player/hand at Treasury casino in Brisbane Australia.

10/20 is 10% capped at $20

The casino in barcelona had 5% uncapped. Their lowest game was 5/10nl.

Every so often someone posts about the Crowne Casino in Australia, mentions the outlandish rake, and asks if it can be beat which I don't think it can. After that ridiculous cruise ship thingy the Crowne has to be the worst from what I've read.

[/ QUOTE ]

THis is the sole reason why I don't play at Crown. It's like 10% up to 3BB I think for limit.

For no limit you pay rake and time. This is what I think is unfair. One or the other not both.

I played in a home game where the guy took a red chip out of the pot and dropped it into a bucket next to him on the floor every time the pot hit $100. Now 5% is really NBD, but the SOB had two self-dealt tables going once a week for about 10-12 hours, and served nothing but generic sodas and Little Debbies.

Still, that would be NBG, because the play was so bad, but the worst part was hearing him bitch about how much trouble it was to put on this games and provide all this food for such a "small" cut of the pot.

Even at 20 hands an hour, we were playing a bizarre 5/10/10/20 game with one $5 blind, so there were always 7 to the flop and every pot was $100 or more. Dude was taking $100/hour off each table and whining the whole time. Unfortunately, there was no other place to play, and the players all sucked, so...

In the old days, they just raked as much as they could. One dealer at the Stardust raked over 300$ off of a 3-6 table in one hour.

This may be the highest rake ever - don't know. Can you top it?

Last week, I played on the Caribbean Princess Cruise ship. They were using one of those 10-player computer tables (ughh). The game was either limit $2-4 or $3-6. The rake was 10% uncapped ($1 taken from the pot at every $10 increment).

The woman running the casino claimed that (paraphrasing) "10% is a fair rake; in Vegas and CA and other places it's 40%". Nobody was able to convince her otherwise, and the table sat mostly empty throughout the week.

On the topic of computer tables: she said that she preferred those, and planned to install more of them. I asked why, and she said that she was tired of players complaining when she was dealing. Complaining about what? Why, complaining about the rake! Somehow she couldn't put 2 and 2 together.

She was a very nice lady, and I'm totally convinced that she really wasn't aware of how far off the mark her rake really was.

Overall, that is the type situation, where you find something else to do, other than play poker.
