the button should zip all the way around to like, seat 4 or something, and seats 5 and 6 should post the blinds.

sincerely, pokerstars.

Best part of this story, for anyone who knows OP, is that he hung around after busting out in order to see if the blinds situation would be handled correctly. <3 AK!

I'd say the button stays where it is, seat 2 sits out a hand, seat 4 small blind 5 big blind.

That caught my attention as well. I was thinking the correct floor decision is "please leave the tournament area. Only players in the tournament are allowed inside the rails."

When a table redraw occurs, players can be reaasigned after they play their blinds, but before they play their button. The can also pay the blinds, play all the way around to the UTG position, and then the table breaks. Because this can happen, players may also come to a new table and inherit the rights and position of that seat. The only place where a player can't receive a hand is between the small blind and the button.

This is often confused with the scenario where a table becomes shorthanded and ONE player must be forcibly moved to balance the tables. In this instance, a player may not receive the button the first hand at the new table, as players must be moved to the "worst position" at the new table.

I am almost certain that Jack uses this same policy. Jack will be the first to tell you that he does not adhere strictly to TDA rules. I do, simply becuase it's standardization, and players know what to expect. During our TDA meeting I was a proponent of strict position for position movement, but there was no consensus reached, so the rule remained unchanged.

but is the OP talking about a redrawn table? He is refering to players being moved into seats vacated by busting players, in this instance a new player CANNOT be dealt in on the button.

This is the case in every tournament I have played live, and would like to know what casino you are citing specifically that does use this practice. Note: NOT redrawing, but filling seats that are vacated on a table and then dealing those new players in ON the button, Not every table break is redrawn to a new table some tourneys bust 7 handed tables and send each player to a different table -these players cannot be dealt the button

To my knowledge, every casino that cliams to use TDA rules. I have worked at Gold Strike in Tunica, Reno Hilton, and about 10 Harrahs properties. We used it at every one of those events.

We are in complete understanding of what you are talking OP is talking about. empty seats at a table are filled by players from a table that has broken. Those players can be dealt a hand on the button. It is the fairest thing for all players in the tournament to do it that way.
