This series is really the best thing I've seen on tv in a long time. Discovery HD Theater is easily the best channel on tv right now (imo) and the only way it could improve is if "Man Vs Wild" was an hour long and on DHDT. Planet Earth is just spectacular though.

If you enjoyed the water related episodes of Planet Earth, I highly recommend Blue Planet. The comparable episodes are all superior, IMO - especially the deep sea episode. Some crazy creatures lurking in the depths.

My wife bought me the set as an anniversary gift - we're at that stage where we don't NEED anything, so it's a challange to buy for each other.

We've been watching an episode a nite for the last week - really a nice way to spend time together - the photography is unbelievable.

Five stars, at least.

This is the best thing I've seen on TV for years. Awesome photography - was made for HDTV. There are many many unbelievable sequences, the likes of which you will never have seen before (the birds of paradise doing mating dances is the best IMO).

i agree with the congregation...

the shark jumping out the water to snatch the seal in super-duper slow motion is probably the best thing i've ever seen on tv...
