Sorry, don't have a link. The two announcers on ESPN for the Cardinals-Mets game were discussing this. Somebody had mentioned in a post in the fantasy thread a while back as well.

It makes sense if you think about it. There is a velocity difference betwenn a two seam and a four seam fastball. Also, if Reyes doesn't have confidence in the two seamer, is he really going to throw it for strikes?

No, I mean it's silly for a pitching coast to force him to do this when the results -- again, assuming everything you say to be true -- are so obviously different.

I think the big problem is that Duncan has had a lot of success with differenct reclamation projects in the past, both in St. Louis and Oakland. I think the success has gone to his head, to the point where he thinks any idea he comes up with is going to be a good one. Problem is, Reyes isn't a reclamation project. He is a legit prospect and didn't need his approach overhauled. I can't figure out why Reyes doesn't just say "f-him" and go out and throw the four seamer while using the two seamer as a secondary pitch when he needs it.

crockpot keeps betting Reyes and it is the only time I'll overrule him and not bet

Reyes is just not good IMO

He has the tools, but he isn't there mentally

He has tore up AAA when demoted this year

that is fixable, but we'll see

2 starts last year in the playoffs and performed fine. (12 innings, 3.00 era.) Strange. Did a few months of offseason make that much difference?

Maybe he's one of those AAAA players (a la Ruben Rivera) who just can't make the jump.

Oh, and the Cards offense is horrible. I'm sure that's cost him at least a few wins.
