You could have done what I did several months ago.

Re: So I really [censored] up at work...
That time when Bill Gates was doing a multimedia presentation and his computer crashed, bringing up the blue screen of death....
that was funny. |

ByTor, Yeah, having it happen in a meeting is not a big deal at all. Global web cast to 10k+ employees? Maybe a little different. [/ QUOTE ] Naw, not really. Chit happens man. As someone else mentioned, not being able to quickly recover, or sitting there scratching your head wonder what to do, would have been a big deal. If anything, it showed your ability to think under preasure and solve problems without freaking out. |

Re: So I really [censored] up at work...
Back when I was an intern at a large pharmaceutical company, I was fortunate enough to see an epic [censored] up.
A coworker (let's call him Bob) had emailed a presentation to our entire department (~500 people worldwide, including CEO). Long story short, some dumb ass pulls the standard 'reply all' error and unknowingly sends an email out to everyone. In this amazing email sent to some other coworker, he explains how Bob's presentation is "[censored] horrible" and he "can't believe how incompetent Bob is". He really ripped Bob a new one. Way to go, numbnuts. |

Re: So I really [censored] up at work...
most people watching won't be thinking "wow, what an idiot, he messed up", but instead will be thinking "geez, that sucks. I'd hate for that to happen to me."
And then once they see you keeping cool and fixing the problem, they are thinking "nice save. I probably would be freaking out". |

nolan,
That was such an underwhelming screwup it sapped all the energy from this thread. "LOL, lemme actually put up the right slide here, I hate powerpoint!" <5 seconds later nobody even remembers it happened> <yawn> |

Made a mistake when I signed off some paper work to release some parts to production. Unfortunately, there was a mistake and it cost our company a few hundred thousand dollars. By some unexplained miracle, I wasn't fired. [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: So I really [censored] up at work...
When I was in college, I worked for the local utility company. I would go to people's residences and check to see why they had large bills. One of the things we had to do was go into the attic to check the level of insulation and to see if any of the AC ducts had holes in them. Normally when people had small attics I would not go inside but one time I tried to do it. Of course this one time, the wood planks in the ducts were spread so far apart I had to step between them. LDO, I put a nice fat hole in their ceiling. Lucky for me I did not have to pay for it and I got to keep my job.
