Women can play with colored balls. I am in favor of all women playing with the balls of their choice.

Also, an eye condition give a guy a free pass to use an orange or yellow ball.

But I still see no reason why a grown adult male should play with a brightly colored ball.

Why should a grown adult male be forced to play with a white ball?

why should it matter? Do you take umbrage with the red-colored cavity backs on some Nike irons? What about my brightly-colored stand bag? What about my ridiculous pink plaid shorts?

It shouldn't matter at all - this is a matter of personal preference. So long as the equipment conforms to USGA rules, you should mind your own business.

Can anyone find a photo of a PGA pro, past or present, using a colored ball?

I would pay a little money to see that.

(The ping balls were kinda cool, I will admit that)

Come play some of the little 9 hole "goat ranches" that I grew up playing, where early spring the rough is nothing but tiny white flowers that make the ground look like it is covered with snow. Then try to find your pretty little white $4 ball. An orange or yellow ball might just save you time, money, and strokes.

Seriously.

I have one friend who uses an orange ball from time to time, we call it "the ball of shame"

I am curious why any MAN would ever use a colored ball?

(Ladies, you are excused)

OHHHH! HERE is yet another reason why people think serious amateur golfers are douches.

I play in a yearly red, white and blue tourney where you've gotta use the ball to match the tees you're using for that hole.

I also have a group of friends that uses the "must play" rule for found balls. Any ball in decent condition that is found on the course must be used from the next tee until the end of the round, or until a new ball is found. Last year I played with a pink Precept and this year I've had a yellow Spongebob ball in play as well as a rainbow ball with a gay support organization logo on it.

The first birdie I ever made was a 50-foot chip with a pink Flying Lady.

WTF, who cares what color the ball is?

I grew up playing in the 80s, back then colored balls were ALL the rage. Hell, there was a brief spell where tour pros were using them in tournaments! No joke.

Also, I was fond of the dual-colored balls that Ping made. I think it was Ping, right? There was like a purple & white one and an orange and green one or something like that. Takes me back.

QFT. When they first came out everyone was using them.

--The first TPC was won by Jerry Pate playing orange Titleists(I think)

--I played yellow Titleists ONLY when they were making them (I'm color challenged and lose white ones in the clouds)

--Anyone in our regular foursome getting a 10 'wins' an old beat-up pink Flying Lady for one hole
