Re: FTP .5/1 hu NL bad play by me?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] "i raise to 4( my standard raise)" please don't do this. [/ QUOTE ] What's the explanation? There are definitely cases where raising to $4 is optimal. [/ QUOTE ] There might be situations where raising to $4 is optimal, I don't know, but having it as your standard raise is not good I think. You're in position and want to build a big pot. You're just missing too much value raising to 4. oh and what are the situations where it's optimal in cash games? sure you aren't thinking of SNGs where if effectives stacks are a certain ammount you can min raise to decrease his resteal value? [/ QUOTE ] I don't think you realize this is .5/1, not 1/2. His raise 4x bb, not a min raise. After playing with an opponent for awhile I love to alter my raises. If they are playing too loose and flat-calling oop, I'll work my standard raise up to 4x bb, and if they are playing too tight, never flat-calling, but reraise when they do play, I'll work my standard raise down to 2.5x bb. Obviously if they catch on, you have to make further adjustments to stay ahead of them. But at these levels, it's rare to find someone smart enough to adjust. |

Re: FTP .5/1 hu NL bad play by me?
I never understood why people change raise sizes between 2.5 and 4x throughout matches.
I do know, that the ones that do it seem to fold a lot more often to 3-bets, so I take it small PPs and mid-weak aces? That was always the general assumption I'd default to without a read, any thoughts on this? |

I always keep my raises to the same amounts. I don't see a reason to alter them.

Re: FTP .5/1 hu NL bad play by me?
I don't vary my raises based on my hands (in order to avoid giving away information), but I will vary it based on the flow of the game and how my opponent is playing. If he will play just as many hands out of position for 4x bb, as he does for 3x bb, then I'm going to charge him. Likewise, if he will fold just as many hands for 2.5x bb, as he will for 3x bb, I will raise more hands, but only to 2.5x bb. But once I start raising a certain amount, I keep it constant, unless I notice my opponent adjusting.
