It can take a # of months to fully adapt to a low-carb diet. Here is some review of a study showing that a high-fat diet may be superior than the typical high-carb diet for endurance events like cycling.

This guy is a low-carber and a former world BJJ champ. He has been on that kind of diet long before being a champ. Plus he is old and in damn good shape.

I feel my best and perform just fine on 100-120g of CHO/day, and a high-fat diet, but I've been doing it a long time and some may not consider that to be low-carb.
