you had me up to eliminating an original six team....
hockey doesnt need to be saved....its just not popular in the US cept for michigan, minnesota, buffalo and a few other markets...but yeah...can't get rid of an original six...no matter how bad the ownership is

[/ QUOTE ] well if your question is why not eliminate an original six team......id have to say history one of the nhls greatest attributes is its heritage and history, to get rid of the hawks who have been around for 80 years would seem to be a mistake....I dont really see the need either....The only thing holding that team back is the ownership... under different ownership the people in chicago would probably get more into their team...they sure like their minor league hockey team(the wolves i think?)...

[/ QUOTE ] hockey needs change. modern fans dont care about history and the chicago situation isn't a good one. i'm an NHL fan and would not care if chicago moved cities. "history" isnt a big enough reason to keep a team in a dead hockey market imo.

[/ QUOTE ] It is a similar situation in Boston (another O6 team) where a terrible owner has destroyed interest in the team as opposed to the actual decline of hockey, which is still very popular in the region. Man Jeremy Jacobs is a giant douchebag with no concept of how to run a popular team. But yea, those original 6 teams can't be moved/contracted, get rid of teams in smaller US markets that aren't traditionally hockey areas instead and this is a great idea, assuming there are actually 14 cities in Canada.
