tuq feels like he's been around a lot longer than he actually has because he's memorized the archives.

Your reply to Dominic in the ninja-bumped thread in late 2005 was a classic, yo.

perhaps the forum is declining because nearly every new poster trying to break in gets starred or banned. with other, better forums to post in, OOT is really yesterday's news now anyway and like I mentioned, the lack of new blood will make sure it stays that way. my opinion, don't third * me.

actually, its due to the part of your brain that handles the perception of time. When you listen to boring uninteresting people like tuq go on and on in thread after thread it just feels like for-eh-ver has passed.

Some of my favorite OOT posters are:
(edit: this is intended to help with the "working list of posters who understand the culture" or whatnot, paraphrasing... these are people who should post more, because they're good, IMO)

guids, tuq, amplify, kyleb, crazyeyez, punkass, phresh, captZEEbo, Blarg, double a la tom, klompy, offtopic, cbloom, and probably a bunch more who I can't think of. I'll try to list a "why" for each one.

guids: funny, holds unpopular opinions well, thinks before he posts, has a good sense of humor

tuq: one of the funnier posters here IMO, friendly, has interesting things to say

amplify: generally just very cool

kyleb: sometimes an a-hole but usually in a cool way, also knowledgeable

crazyeyez: avatar tilts me, but otherwise IMO is a fairly prolific and solid poster

punkass: smart, saves bad threads, generally cool

phresh: same, seems smart / funny, on target in most posts

captZEEbo: was nice/helpful to me, also has good things to say, contributes content, is thoughtful in responses

blarg: writes too much in every post, but writes good stuff, is funny, responds to anything you ask him, generally friendly, has good things to say

double a la tom: cracks me up, has same sense of humor as me

klompy: level-headed, funny, good contributor

offtopic: weird but funny, also has good points to make, interesting poster

cbloom: generally respectable, has good contributions

los feliz slim: just a good poster, also weird and good sense of humor

mrkilla: rules pretty hard

z28dreams: informative, thoughtful, a good poster

oddjob: weird as hell, but cool also

the ones who I don't see anymore in OOT but who, when I started posting in OOT, I considered the "old guard" and/or who I think are generally cool:

the x factor
dominic
(el diablo?)

Those are (as far as I can remember at this precise moment) the posters I think either contribute positively to the better end of OOT (which is still IMO the best of the 2+2 forums) or the people I think used to do that, and have since stopped. All fwiw, my 2 cents, etc, and I've probably forgotten a bunch. Actually here are 2 more good posters:

howard beale
homer

also, mason (mason55?), the guy with "THE Dirk Diggler", he's a good poster

any thread that is going to be funny goes to bbvlife, turning oot into yahoo answers.

sadly, bbvlife has too many internet geeks who arent funny and many of the smart and funny oot posters dont visit that section.
