Oden is probably better than the every forward and center on the Knicks combined.

The easiest way to assess his value is this:

How high a player would you go (i.e. top 30, top 25 player) assuming equal salaries? Obviously this depends a bit depending on the age of the player, but let's say 28-29, under contract for 3-5 years. Let's start with that base of value and then say if Oden is worth more / less than that.

With this assumed value I would go up to a top 10 player. That means more than a Carter, Kidd, T-Mac, Deron Williams, Amare type of player. He should be one of the three or four rare franchise players in the NBA.

Yes, Oden is probably better than David Lee.

Assani- So while you think Durant is more valuable than Lebron James trading Caron Butler for Greg Oden would hurt? Jesus, dude.

Haha, no one is getting Oden but Portland. We'll see you in the finals.

k... let me rephrase because this is actually a good question... what is the maximum you would give up to get him.... I would prolly give up t-mac on the rockets.... battier oden and yao has potential to be an all-time defensive team... as for the knicks i would give them anything they wanted obviously

There are very few players in the league that would not be traded straight up for him. The number is certainly in single digits.

Hmm, you might be right. Lemme see... Salary concerns aside (but taking age into consideration), here are the players I would absolutely NOT trade for Oden under any circumstances:

Kobe
Yao
LeBron
Wade (not quite sure about this)
Dwight Howard
Chris Bosh

Here are players I'm on the fence about:

Deron Williams
Gilbert Arenas
Amare Stoudemire
Dirk Nowitzki
Kevin Garnett
Carmelo Anthony
Tracy McGrady
Steve Nash
Chris Paul

Everyone else I'd pretty much trade straight up in a heartbeat.

Tracy McGrady Plethora of 2 guards, although Houston already has a 5. One of the few teams that doesn't need a young 5.
Steve Nash age
Chris Paul

Why do you include KG but not Duncan, the guy who is about to win his 4th title. They don't differ that much in age but greatly when it comes to success of their respective teams.
