Default Re: hi 1st hand post.... outplayed by position?

I would c/r the flop also.

With 3 players in there, the pot is about 6 small bets. If you just call, it's 8:1 to the early position player, which is just about enough for a 5-outer to call (when you consider there will be big bets collected if he hits). Also it's not entirely wrong for the broadway gutshot to call one small bet.

cliffs notes: c/r to get it heads up, the pot's not that small.

(alternately, ch/call flop and lead the turn, then bet the river)

Hrmmm, you are right. I should read the action and not the pot size...

Why don't you tell me why you would check/raise the flop. I told you why *I* think you sholdn't.

The most likely bettor is the button after his preflop raise, so he's likely to c-bet if checked to in position. A checkraise probably gets us heads up against a wide variety of hands, many of which we are beating in a medium sized pot.

If the button 3-bets us on the flop, or UTG sticks around, I'm check/folding the turn unimproved. If UTG folds as expected and the button just calles our CR, I'm leading the turn and river.
