Re: Compact fluorescent light bulbs?
[ QUOTE ]
I use these and I think I might have seen a warning about using compact fluorescents in recessed fixtures. I think they emit heat that can become a fire hazard. I'm no expert, but you might want to check that out before you decide. [/ QUOTE ]CFLs generate less heat than incandescent bulbs. Both your standard A lamp and halogens are incandescent. Although, you will probably be using PAR lamps in the recessed fixtures. Halogens generate the most heat of any incandescent lamp typically used in residential. They also produce more light per watt and have better color rendition. |

Re: Compact fluorescent light bulbs?
You can put your hand 2-3 inches from a CFL and not feel any heat.

Re: Compact fluorescent light bulbs?
Some of the cheaper compact fluoros have crappy ballasts that are a fire hazard. Buy good brands and there isn't much risk.

Re: Compact fluorescent light bulbs?
if its just to have long lasting bulbs buy 130 volt ones. they last 5000 hours. and on a dimmer almost forever. its the high surge that tends to blow out bulbs.
