My Chevy Tahoe is comprised of a lower percentage of parts manufactured in the US than my buddy's Honda Accord.

Exactly.

I looove the RX8's and RX7's. Suicide doors really turn my crank, if you get what I'm saying.

It's definitely a fun car, but underpowered. It's probably best somewhere where you'll be in the twisties and at low elevation. You'll lose drag races against anything reasonable, but it's fun in the turns. The wankel engine is pretty cool and has a nice sound to it.

I own an 04 RX8. I love it and would not consider selling it any time soon. It's just too fun to drive. However, the car really is underpowered. Unless you like revving the engine and down shifting to pass (I have no problems with either), you'll think the car is too slow.

Also, the car gets absolutely terrible gas mileage. I get between 16-18 mpg and it has barely improved since I got the car.

The back seat is supposedly relatively roomy (for a sports car), but is a pain to get in and out of. I've never actually sat in the back seat, so I can't confirm or deny that.

If the car was totalled, would I buy another one to replace it? That's a tough question. I'd probably buy a more practical car. Something with more usable power, better gas mileage, and a bigger back seat (because I have a 5-year old). But I don't regret buying the car. And if I didn't have a 5-year old, I probably would buy it again.

Cannot believe this question has 100% serious responses so far.

I very seriously considered buying a Mazda RX8, but I've come to grips with the fact that I'm a middle-aged man trapped inside a 23 year old body, so I'm buying a 3-series BMW instead as a compromise between being old and wanting a luxury car and being a reckless youngster.

That being said, from all the research and test drives I've done, the car is great, minus that whole "it doesn't feel as powerful as you think it should be."

Are this years RX8's as fast as the old RX7's yet?

I know the first few years were quite slow in comparison, which is pretty sad.

This year's RX8 is relatively unchanged since it was first introduced in 2004.
