honestly my favorite part of vegas is the mexicans handing out porn by slapping them. Is there anything better ? God we laugh at that.

[/ QUOTE ]

Those guys are hilarious. I had fun with them once. I took a card and flew into a "rage" and said "This is my sister. I've been searching for her for four years. Where is she?"

They just laughed. I tried...

But a really funny story about Stripper Trading Cards (people do collect them...) was when my son, brother and I had a contest to see who could pass of a card to another tourist first.

I saw an elderly couple walking towards me and said "Discount bingo tonight" and handed the old guy a card.

We (and everyone else in the area) had a good laugh.

However the timeshare sellers are usually offering show tickets as an incentive to hear the sales pitch. They generally leave single men alone and focus on couples, but the last time I went into the rio alone they did approach me so they may be changing their tactics.

[/ QUOTE ]

I know someone who does IT for one of the Vegas timeshare companies and he's seen the payroll. Those nice people in the suits asking every couple that passes by "How ya doin'? Gonna be in town tomorrow night?" can make some incredo-bling. But it's like car salesmen; the worst of them last a few days and figure out they suck at it (or their boss figures out they suck at it) and they never make anything. But the very best of them can apparently hit $1million/yr.

If you want a "free" dinner and show it'll just cost you a few hours of your day. But realize these folks are VERY VERY good at what they do and if you have a weak will those free tickets could end up costing you a whole lot if you cave in to the sales pitch.

"Sir, you'll have to give me a lot more to sit through a time-share presentation at Tahiti Village."

Just ask yourself "is this too good to be true?" If the answer is yes, then it IS too good to be true. I wouldn't trust any of them. There are lots of people looking for suckers in vegas, and unfortunately there are plenty of suckers keeping them going. Although you may actually get something real from some of them, I wouldn't trust any of them. There's one sure place to get show tickets - the box office.

Damn right. This is not just Vegas though, it's everywhere. I went to the Eagles/Cowboys(return of T.O) game last year without tickets hoping to score some at the stadium. People were selling them left and right and everything about the tickets looked fine as far as I could tell. So we get to the front gate and the usher goes "these tickets won't scan sir, you'll have to go to the main office". I knew right away when they wouldn't scan that the scumbag ripped us off. It cost me $350 and a headache but I did learn to never buy tickets off the street again unless the person comes to the front window with me to verify the authenticity. It's just not worth the potential hassle of buying street tickets imo.

I didn't notice the ticket sellers when I was there in March. I did however notice the countless mexicans with the hooker cards who flap them in front of you as you walk by though. Those people were swarming the strip.

Do the casinos get a kick back of every successful timeshare sale? I stayed at the Golden Nugget a couple years back and this time share company had a desk inside the casino (just inside one of the Freemont entrances). Does this seem weird to anyone? I mean, why would the Golden Nugget allow this when we all know it annoys people and may actually turn customers away.

I once saw an ad for a "stripper" where the girl was wearing a #32 Eagles jersey. Would have been really weird if she was wearing a Michael Lewis jersey so I'm assuming it was Ricky Watters, even though he'd been off the Eagles for like 6 years. Anyway, I'm a big Birds fan. If she had worn the jersey, I might have been intrigued... Anyway, that led to my brother developing a rating system that automatically bumped a girl up several spots if you saw her wearing a jersey of a team you rooted for.

The best is the FIRST time I went to Vegas, I accepted one card from one Mexican. The next thing I knew, I had 15 of them stuffed into my hands. it all happened so fast. So it's 3pm, and I'm standing in front of family and kids with all these porn cards.

We're planning on bringing flyers from Canada to give to THEM this time.
