Re: Ethics
[ QUOTE ]
In poker, playing soft is extremely unethical. [/ QUOTE ] That means play your cards jealously. Peeking is not part poker. You could make the same argument for marking the deck or holding out cards. "Hey, I'm just doing my best to win." Check your antisocial version of competition at the door, please. Fairness wise, you're not responsible for his mistake, but that's not a specifically poker thing. By the way, is there a rules or ethical prohibition from deliberately showing a live hand? For example, can you flip your A9 face up before you decide whether to call? Could small blind flip over just the queen as he shoves? |

Re: Ethics
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] It's ethical because, overall, it protects the integrity of the game. [/ QUOTE ] Arguable. [/ QUOTE ] Agreed. I was a little surprised when I came to that conclusion. |

Re: Ethics

By the way, is there a rules or ethical prohibition from deliberately showing a live hand? [/ QUOTE ] In a cash game, heads up, yes (you can show your cards). In a tournament, unless you are in the final 2, usually no (you can not show your cards). It makes sense to me: it's OK as long as you aren't hurting other players. |
