The quoted link goes through a proxy address that the original link did not.

"somethings rotten in the state of Denmark"

What makes you think that the link is safe Daryn? (again, I don't know much about this type of thing.)

Since I did click the link that was rerouted through the proxy I would appreciate if someone who is tech savvy would chime in as to whether there is any motivation other than a nefarious one that someone could have for changing the link (but making it look like it was the same link) and rerouting it.

Also, if this link does do bad things can someone figure out who notthedingo is and ip ban their real account?

If you highlight the link you see it is being redirected from a proxy server - a usually anonymous server that acts like a gateway to send you to a different website. I would be suspicious of clicking on any link like that with a PC unless I had up-to-date anti-spyware and anti-virus software (which all PC users should have anyways). Mac users should have nothing to worry about.

The link is fine, as he explained. Here is the same link, mouse over it and you'll see it's not been changed:

http://www.cardplayer.com/players/re...-Parsons/43452

In exchange for me being awesomely helpful, I wish someone could translate his Australian into English so I could figure out what's going on between this and the NVG thread.

The link tuq posted is fine. The link in the quoted posts above, however, goes to (editted a tad to prevent errant clicks) the following:

webbytypeaddress://server14.kproxy.c..._Parsons/43452

I haven't, and do not intend to, use that link and would HIGHLY suggest no one else do so either.

lol well dont repost the link that you suggest people not to click on.

and since it was brought up in this thread, why are Macs invulnerable against viruses? just people dont care enough to write them to [censored] with macs? or are macs just that super awesome that they can't get [censored] with. I'm thinking about getting a powerbook.
