Is 'festoon' that oddball of a word? I have a pretty limited vocabulary and have always assumed that any word I use is understood by 90%+ of the English speaking world.

I think the rule is, if you can imagine Vinnie Barbarino making fun of it, it's not a common word.

I think once Vinnie learned that word he would be using it all the time.

Festoon may be known by 10%, I think. But watch out with those big words; you may be accused of sesquipedalianism and defenestrated.

Ok I have a question. Why do some men festoon themselves with jewelry and ornaments? I would prefer to hear an answer from someone who actually does this.

[/ QUOTE ]

I thought it was mostly old guys that did the festooning of the jewelry thing. I knew a guy who thought he looked sexy in a gold chain if you can believe that. I think it's kind of sweet that guys care what they look like.

What do guys think of today’s womens fashions? What do you like/dislike?

I'm kind of curious. Do you ever look at the way women dress these days and think it's too slutty and leaves nothing to the imagination?

And since we’re talking about jewelry. What do you guys like on girls? Do you think jewelry is gaudy?

How a girl dresses is very important to me...I like the casual, sexy look more than anything - jeans, t-shirt, etc. I also love when a girl knows how to dress up for an evening out without looking like a skank.

While it's good for visual stimulation, I really don't like the current trend that has young women dressing like their porn stars.

jewelry - don't really care as long as you're not wearing more than three pieces at any one time. I do prefer white gold/platinum/silver over yellow gold.
