don't want to hijack, but does anyone know where I might find similar lists for the other major sports?

if santana doesn't get injured... and if he indeed hits the fa market... the bidding could get quite ridiculous... my guess though is that he will get traded for a plethora of prospects(think the dbacks, angels or drays aren't getting a package ready?) and signs a contract with his new team...

i don't think the mets, unless they're willing to part with all of their top tier prospects will have a chance... as far as prospects/ml-ready young talent goes i think the drays are best positioned to get johan with the angels being the best fit as far as prospects and money are concerned...

So the DRAYS are going to give what 3/5ths or more of their total salary to Johan, I guess that'd be interesting. He's either going to stay and take a less than market value or he's going to go to 1 of probally 3 teams that can afford his services in the Mets, Yankees or Red Sox and maybe the Cubs.

Johans FA deal could be > total salary of the Drays ($24m)

The football list would probably be pretty boring... something like:

1. Peyton Manning
2. Tom Brady
3. Donovan McNabb
4. Drew Brees
5. Carson Palmer
6. Mark Bulger
7. Phillip Rivers
8. Chad Pennington
9. Champ Bailey
10. Julius Peppers
11. Marcus Mcneil
12. LDT
13. Matt Leinart
14. Ben Roethlisberger
15. Tony Romo
16. Sean Merriman
17. Brian Urlacher
18. Calvin Johnson
19->Lots of OL but overall pretty random/too hard to decide

What makes the list fun in baseball is that it is much easier to calculate worth between two players who play different positions. Maybe you could do it better in basketball and I think it would be possible to make a decent list for hockey... but I don't have the knowledge in those sports to even attempt it.

You really put 4 Top 16 players from SD?

You also really put Romo and Pennington (injuries?) in the top 20, okay.

[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] this list. The Tribe has 4 spots, 37, 21, 17 and #5 (who will be on the cover of this weeks SI). Not to shabby.
