Since its from a US bank I dont see how they could think anything was out of the ordinary unless they look for particular "bs company" names. Did you have enough in your bank account to cover the check? Did your name exactly match the name on the check? I am just trying to figure out what could even raise a red flag here...

[/ QUOTE ]

At least 50x more money in my account then the ammount of the check.

Man i dont know. I am starting to think they have a blacklist of fake companies used by poker sites. I just dont see how else they would know where the check came from since it is from a US bank. Unless somebody else can give an explanation?
But hey at least you were able to cash it...im from NY and they stopped sending checks to us all together.

If this is the case simply tell them you'd like to deposit this check for $xxxx.xx dollars, they are welcome to place a hold on it if they wish, and you'd like to withdraw from checking $xxxx.xx.

No hassle, everyone is covered/protected if something does go wrong.

Ummm...did you ask the teller or manager?? Not sure how we're going to know why individuals of one particular branch of one particular bank chose to interpret their check cashing policies in a certain way...but they might.

This all relates to the check looking funny, IMO. Just deposit the check in an ATM next time.

I deposited a Stars check about thiry minutes ago and the bank teller didn't even flinch. The check looked perfectly normal, drawn on a US bank. I was in and out in less than 2 minutes.

I made the deposit at a branch at a supermarket, the check was for $1300 and change. I always request an odd amount in the hope that it makes the check look more "authentic".

Besides, receiving checks from poker sites doesn't violate the UIGEA, does it?

The one I got was huge and looked like it was printed off from a home printer. Maybe it's changed since my last check.

Exactly. Tell them to stick the sheck in ur account and place a hold on it if need be. Some of these tellers really think they are hot [censored]. BTW, how much was the check for?

All out-of-town checks, even cashiers checks, are becoming hard to cash, especially if they are large in relation to your average balance. Blame inkjet printers and Nigerians.
