Re: 8/16 live, 98s
I guess I'm the only one that found it ironic OP is calling villain weak and loose when he's limping 98s utg1 and calling with MP+FD+BDSD and checking behind on the turn in a HU pot?
Autobet turn, what were you afraid of? A stronger nine? |

If he bets those hands, he has to think what I would call here with -- hearts, and a bigger Qx kicker, with probably a stronger emphasis on the Q. |

Re: 8/16 live, 98s
I'd say most to all breakeven players are betting black K9 on this turn card.

Re: 8/16 live, 98s
I bet the turn. The board was full of draws, and UTG probably had one. He bet, and then he was called, and he probably didn't think that putting in bets with the worst hand was a good plan on the turn.
On this action, I definately bet the river. If I bet the turn, and get called, I most likely bet the river. No matter what UTG holds, you probably are a favorite against his hand on the flop. I think that if you raise, and it gets headsup, (which it would have this time), you create extra equity for yourself, in the form of dead money. This time it didn't matter, because your call was scary enough for everyone to fold. You certainly have enough equity in this pot, that nothing bad can happen to you on the flop. If you raise the flop, and aren't reraised, I probably just keep betting until the river, where I might take a free showdown. If you get reraised, you can reevalueate your situation. |

bet, obviously. He's showing weakness; if he checkraises you, get out, or call, depending on your read.

Re: 8/16 live, 98s
Help a clueless noob out who's having trouble with his river play. Why is this a river value bet? Are we expecting villain to call us with 3rd pair or a worse 2nd pair?

[/ QUOTE ] 98s is a terrific hand in loose passive games even utg, i dont know what you're talking about. online TAG games, 98s UTG is pretty crappy unless you're coming in for a raise (and then still this shouldnt be done that often). i think the former applies here. oh yeah, and bet the turn. |
