[/ QUOTE ] Just to be clear, I don't think Lakisha is curently showing she is one of the best in the competition. But she has showed her potential on many occasions earlier on. You can't sing like she did by accident. I am backing her because she may have the best voice in the competition and despite some of her recent performances she was, and if she survives this week, will be the best value in the competition. She is over 15-1 and that is insane value. Although maybe I am just insane.............

I remember during season 4, with Carrie, Bo, and Constantine, that it was easily the strongest crop they'd ever had. I still think that holds true. This season is an embarrassment, even with Melinda.

Hicks couldn't even sing that well. He was just a gimmick that happened to make it to the end based on the stars being aligned. Kat wasn't that good, she made it too far as the last female. Yamin never did learn charm.
Daughtry and Paris may have won, but that's it. IMO Daughtry was about as talented as Blake, and Paris was a little less talented than Melinda, but more talented than everyone else this year.

[/ QUOTE ] disjunction, good comments...... and i certainly wasn't suggesting that all those people (and i'd even add ace who i forgot) were excellent singers. i'd say only daughtry, elliott and paris were excellent singers. but i think they've missed the boat so badly this year on any combination of vocal and (looks or charisma). i don't think any of the remaining contestants resonate with the american public. and i think 6-7 did last year. i may be too extreme but it's 5-6 last year vs. 1-2 last year (guys i knew who would never watch idol knew pickler). i think it's so much more than vocals to make it huge in music business. and melinda is miles, miles ahead of anyone else vocally(i didn't forget jordin) this year. in fairness, i didn't watch tonight or last week so that guy's comments about the relavance of my comments is justified.... but i've seen enough this season.... AND MY ABSOLUTE LAST COMMENT ON THIS YEAR'S IDOL. THANKS EVERYONE IT'S BEEN FANTASTIC!!!! (i may still read though)
