Re: Correcting people that you don\'t know
I don't say anything to them but I hear it a lot and I often want to. I already feel bad enough about correcting people I do know, they seem to dislike it and I admit I can be a little bit know-it-allish at times. However, when I'm wrong I don't mind being corrected.
On a side note, I have this female friend who recently started dating a male friend of mine (they were also friends, now dating). EVer since they started going out she is ALWAYS arguing with me about stuff and she is wrong more or less 99% of the time. I must say it's quite annoying. |

Re: Correcting people that you don\'t know
When its specifically talk about gambling, I explain why they are wrong, and explain my background in gambling, and use it as a jumping off point for new clients in business.

You are probably right, though, the "of" sounds weird there. |

Re: Correcting people that you don\'t know
I was at my mom's house doing laundry last week when she came home from a date with some dude. She wanted me to show him what I've been doing at work lately, so I did. My mom asked some questions, and this guy kept interrupting to explain to her - with a very low degree of accuracy and comprehension, I might add - exactly what it is I do for a living. I didn't bother to correct him, he's a moron.

Re: Correcting people that you don\'t know
Wasting a lot of time correcting stupid people is probably what caused a lot of my white/gray hairs. Therefore, I try to stay away from it. However, if the topic is sports, I can't help myself. I do not care if it is a complete stranger. If that guy/girl says something that is not right, I will definitely correct them. This is particularly true in baseball, which is my area of obsession/expertise.
For example, I was playing at the casino a few weeks ago and they had a baseball game on. With one out and a runner on third, the batter hit a short bloop fly ball to right and the rightfielder made a nice sliding catch. The [censored] runner on third base did not score because he was halfway up the line instead of tagging up. When I commented about the runner screwing up and costing the team a run, this jackass at the table chimes in. "He did exactly what he is supposed to do because if the ball drops he needs to be able to score and he won't if he's tagging up." Wow. Anyway, don't [censored] with me about baseball unless you absolutely know what you are talking about. |
